Tillamook Forest Interpretive Center – Oregon

tillamook forest center 4Sometimes you come across the most interesting places by accident.

We were driving to the Oregon coast when we stopped for a walk by The Wilson River by The Jones Creek campground.

As we walked beside the river we saw a long pedestrian suspension bridge and a signpost to the Tillamook Forest Center so we decided to cross the bridge and explore.

The center gives you a very good feel of what life was like here in the early pioneer days with excellent hands-on exhibits and interesting displays. Children can try out a fun scavenger hunt around the exhibitions.

The mock up of a settlers cabin was great and really made you aware of how hard life was without our modern appliances.

No wi fi or electronic games in those days but Papa Joe did try out his skill with the dominoes.

We are really pleased we stumbled across the center and wish we had longer to explore the trails and climb the 40-foot tall replica of a forest fire lookout tower.
