Paradise Wildlife Park – Broxbourne Herts

I had visions of having to spend my day stuck in a narrow tunnel trying to retrieve Abbie. She was having a great time as she had gone through the tunnel to the centre of the Meerkat enclosure to see them and did not want to come out. Finally, to my relief, Abbie appeared. She was very excited that she got so close to see the Meerkats.

Paradise Wildlife Park is great for younger children as it is designed so that the animals are easy to see. It is also great for grandparents as I was not continually having to lift her to see things.

paradise wildlife park guinea pigWith over 400 animals in the zoo section, there are lots to see ranging from small animals such as guinea pigs to big cats as well as farmyard animals. There are also daily shows.

We spent time chatting to one of the keepers in charge of the aviary. He explained that the park operates as a charity and is actively involved in animal conservation.

The wildlife park also sells various experience and encounter days where you can spend time with some of the animals. You can even shadow a zookeeper for the day and work alongside them.

There are plenty of other activities to do. Some of the activities have an extra charge such as the Woodland Railway and The Safari Adventure Golf.

The Paradise Lagoon paddling pool with hippo fountain and aztec slide is open during the summer so don’t forget to bring a swimming costume.

There are several adventure playgrounds and places to unwind or have a picnic. We did not have time to try any of the restaurants.

Abbie loved the small playground. By the afternoon she was exhausted and slept soundly all the way home.
