A real oasis at ‘Oasis Nature Garden’

oasis nature1Set in the urban landscape of Stockwell, The Oasis Nature Garden truly lives up to its name, providing a taste of the countryside in a town.

Just a few minutes walk from Stockwell Station we turned a corner and suddenly were walking alongside a small wood complete with hidden dens and secret paths.

As we neared the entrance we could see a small vegetable garden where children can grow their own food.  Once inside the garden  a small group of children were working intently on a craft activity with an environmental play leader.

The supervised environmental play sessions take place after school Wed to Fri.  There is a  Friday morning play and a nature club runs on Saturdays and during school holidays.  Telephone (020 7720 4276)  to find out when the garden is open and sessions are running.  These sessions are for for children aged 5-14.  Under  5’s are welcome in the garden if they accompanied by a responsible parent or carer who is over 16

These are some of the activities your children can do, den building, pond dipping, growing vegetables, playing hide and seek, making recycled paper , water fights, digging in the mud, finding frogs, making bread.

We were very impressed by some of the dens we saw!
The garden even has a link with Sutton Community Farm who run a  VEGBAG scheme and your order  can be collected from the Oasis Nature Garden.

If your grandchild still has energy and is over 6 years old you could see if there is room at the adventure playground that Oasis run on the other side of the road or stroll through to Larkhall Park where there are two playgrounds.
