Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park – Seattle!!

klondike gold rush park seattle 1Papa Joe and I thought we were dreaming when we saw the sign ‘Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park’ at the historic Cadillac Hotel in Seattle.

The Klondike in Seattle? – surely the Klondike is in Canada.

Intrigued we wandered in to the Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park Visitors Centre and were transported back to 1897 when Seattle became a major gateway and supply centre for the intrepid prospectors on their way to the Klondike Gold Fields.

The museum is small but packs a lot of information in. We had just been on the nearby ‘Underground Seattle Tour’ so we felt the ‘Historic Park’ complimented what we had just learnt about the history of Seattle and its role in the gold rush.
